High Speed Internet For Rural Areas By 2017

A New Brunswick-based Internet provider is promising high speed Internet to rural areas across Canada.

Xplornet says it will start rolling out a wireless network next month and launch two satellites in two years.

Vice-president Chris Johnson says that will allow them to deliver high speed Internet to the county’s rural areas by 2017.

He says that will give them 100 per cent coverage at up to 25 megabits a second for the rural population by 2017 which he says is good news for the underserved rural population.

Johnson says once up and running, there is the potential to increasing speeds to 100 megabits per second at a later date.
