NB Police Commission Issues Apology, Retraction After Statement Made By Executive Director

The New Brunswick Police Commission and its Executive Director issuing an apology and retraction for a statement the Executive Director made when asked to respond to comments criticizing the commission by the New Brunswick Police Association’s Bob Davidson.

In early January of this year, Steve Roberge told CHSJ News that “our response is that the New Brunswick Police Commission cannot respond to any comments made by the New Brunswick Police Association, a lobby group, while there is an ongoing criminal investigation of their executive.”

The statement says that several months ago it was widely reported that a member of the association’s executive was the subject of a criminal investigation for alleged misappropriation of funds from the association. The statement from the Commission says that to their knowledge the only ongoing criminal investigation has to do with someone who was a member of the association’s executive last year and is no longer a member.

It says that inference from the statements that the criminal investigation is about the current executive of the association is false.
