With the launch of the 29th year of the Investors Group Skate to Care fundraiser in the Market Square atrium it’s being hoped that $100,000 will be raised for mental health programs and services in the province.
Executive Director of the SHARE Activity Centre Elaine Hooper tells us that they approach MindCare annually and ask if they can have particular social activities for their clients covered financially. She says they offer a chance for them to supply different activities and different support systems that they wouldn’t have the money for as a non-profit organization. Hooper says they have never been turned down.
$2.6-million has been raised so far from this initiative.
