Laid Off Mine Workers Remain A High Priority

It’s been a rough week for the Sussex area and the province but there is some hope in the darkness.

Energy and Mines Minister Donald Arsenault says the employees who lost their jobs and their famillies are the government’s number one priority.

More than 400 workers at the Picadilly mine lost their jobs this week but, Arsenault says there have been positive conversations between the Mayor of Sussex Marc Thorne and some companies.

Arsenault says there is some good news from companies like JDI who are hosting a job fair next week in Sussex and others are chatting with the town seeing if they may be able to help.

Stephen Lund, CEO of Opporotunities New Brunswick, met with Mayor Thorne to see how they may be able to help.
