Samuel Dove-McFalls and Spencer Smallman had a goal and assist each as the Sea Dogs broke a four game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

In the NHL, Boston snapped a six game losing streak with a 6-2 win over Chicago…..Vancouver shut out the Islanders 4-0…..League leading Nashville got by Buffalo in a shootout 2-1….Martin St. Louis scored two goals as the Rangers won 4-3 over Columbus in a shootout…Pittsburgh over Florida 5-1….Colorado upended Tampa Bay 5-4…..Philadelphia edged Washington 3-2 and Minnesota beat Dallas 6-2.

The Saint John Mill Rats denied the Island Storm another chance to clinch the division title by beating them 115-99 in Charlottetown. Anthony Anderson led all scorers with 30 points. The Mill Rats have won 4 in a row with the regular season finale this Thursday night at Harbour Station. They play in Moncton tonight in a game that was postponed last Monday because of the weather.

In men’s university basketball, Mount St. Vincent defeated U-N-B Saint John 82-67. In women’s play. Mount St. Vincent won over the Seawolves, 62-46.

Joey Logano became the second youngest driver to win the Daytona 500 after a caution came out on the final lap.

The longtime coach of the Central Pee Wees, retired City Police Officer Don Cooper passed away over the weekend. He coached minor football for more than 40 years.
