If you’re planning on making any homemade hummus in the near future you should be sure to check the label on the tahini.
That’s because Amira brand tahini sauce has been recalled nationwide over fears it could be contaminated with Salmonella. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says to their knowledge nobody has gotten sick from eating the product.
Salmonella can cause vomiting, diarrhea, fever and other symptoms in healthy people. Young kids, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems can contract serious and potentially deadly infections.
