Women’s Circle Appealing To More Women – And Kids

After successful feedback in St. Stephen, the Women’s Circle is expanding to other communities in Charlotte County.

The group meets every Thursday evening at the Charlotte County Hospital from 7pm to 9pm, or sometimes later.

Fundy Region Transition House Children’s Support Worker Kelly Kurtz-Johnson says women need to recognize that they can support each other. “You don’t have to come from an abused relationship, or to have experienced abuse in your life, you can just come because a couple hours out of the house with another bunch of great gals, having a cup of tea or a cup of coffee, and just relaxing is what women need.”

Community Outreach Coordinator Carol Lynn Gamblin says it’s for women who are looking forward to a better life. She says, “It’s an opportunity for women to get together and share their ideas on wellness, self-care, coping with the ups and downs of life, and my goodness, aren’t there a lot of those.”

Kurtz-Johnson says they then had a call for a weekly group to meet during daytime hours so it was more accessible to women with children. That group started a few weeks ago in St. George. Women’s Circle gathers at the Baptist Church from 10:30am to 12 noon on Wednesdays. If you have children, the group says they are welcome to come along as they have a separate program for the kids, so the mothers can socialize.

Kurtz-Johnson says they also have interest for the third weekly meeting for St. Andrews in the near future.
