Dozens Evacuated After Natural Gas Leak, Explosion and Fire Overnight

A devastating house fire overnight had dozens of downtown Moncton residents evacuated, and several displaced after a natural gas leak caused an explosion.

Shortly before 8 last night, emergency services got the call of a fire at 335 Lutz street caused by a natural gas explosion.

Reports say while there were several people inside the house, all escaped and only one person suffered minor injuries.

Enbridge gas was on scene and shut off the gas by 11 o’clock, but not before the entire block on Lutz between Williams and Park was evacuated.

Codiac Transpo brought in several busses to keep residents warm, and the Red Cross provided assistance as well.
