Saint John Transit To Pay More Property Tax This Year

Saint John Transit finds itself under more financial pressure with word its property tax bill for the transit garage and offices on McDonald Street opposite Loch Lomand Mall has gone up from almost 406 thousand dollars last year to over 435 thousand this year despite the fact the property tax assessment of the property has decreased.

The city has lobbied the province, so far to no avail, to exempt public transit from having to pay property tax since New Brunswick is the only province to do so.
