The annual Labour Day parade in Saint John starts at 11:00 this morning from the fire hall on King Street East followed by a picnic in Rockwood Park.
The President of the New Brunswick Federation of Labour, Patrick Colford says the economy remains a preoccupation and worry. He adds workers are not happy with the decisions coming out of Ottawa and Fredericton.
On this Labour Day, the President of the Canadian Labour Congress says the latest job numbers show underwhelming employment growth and a stagnant labour market, signaling once again the need for a a new direction. Hassan Yussuff says organised labour has a vital role to play in preserving the middle class.
The C-L-C also pointing out there was also a significant increase in the number of unemployed, up 40,000, as more entered the labour force looking for work, only to find no jobs available.
