The new uptown liquor store will be in the parking lot at the corner of Wellington Row and Union Street, just across from the Jellybean buildings.
Commercial Properties is building the new store and construction is slated to begin in the spring, with crews on site in April. It will be a brick and sandstone building which Commercial Properties’ Paul Moore says is “designed to fit into the architectural history of Saint John.”
Moore believes it’s an ideal location. “It certainly provides a service and a retail outlet in an area that hasn’t been served for quite some time,” he says.

There will be about 30 parking spaces. The project is expected to be substantially completed by the end of the year.
The liquor store will replace the one at Prince Edward Square. We first heard that NB Liquor was looking for retail space in the uptown core in November of last year.
