You may have been one of many people in the Saint John area to receive a phone call or calls about getting a free cruise to the Bahamas.
Consolidated Travel Holdings Group has paid a penalty of $200,000 as part of a settlement for violating the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules. Automated calls were made about receiving the free cruise in exchange for answering a survey.
The Canadian Radio-Television Telecomunications Commission got complaints and launched an investigation.
It found Caribbean Cruise Line made unsolicited telemarketing calls via an automatic dialing-announcing device to many people who registered their phone numbers on the National Do Not Call List.
