Koreans who came to Saint John as immigrants are helping out the Syrian families who are arriving in the city as immigrants.
The Korean community holding a fundraiser and donating 25 hundred dollars to the Y’s Newcomer Connections programme which will be used to meet the basic needs of the refugee families.
The President and C-E-O at the “Y” Shilo Boucher says 81 Syrian families have arrived so far with more on the way and the response to help them settle here has been tremendous. Over 500 volunteers have stepped forward and the donations haven’t stopped.
Unlike some other cities, Boucher says Saint John is eager to accept more refugees.
