Vacancy Rate Down But Still Lots Of Apartments On Offer

The apartment vacancy rate in the Saint John area has declined from 11.4 to 9 per cent. Canada Mortgage and Housing attributes that to the fact not that many new apartments are being built.

All zones in the area except for the south end are reporting lower vacancy rates.

In the city itself, vacancy rates range from 5 to over 11 per cent depending on which area of the city you happen to be in.

In the outlying areas, the vacancy rate is over 10 per cent.

If you’re looking for a two bedroom apartment the average rent is 714 dollars a month.
