Tax credits are seen to be on the chopping block as the Trudeau is promising to clean up the tax code. Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau says the federal budget was the first step in achieving that.
The Conservative Party’s critic for Atlantic Canada, Scott Armstrong says that`s all well and good but getting rid of income splitting was a bad move because it was aimed at helping low income families keep more of their money.
Armstrong adds increasing payroll taxes was also not a good idea in the Atlantic region where small businesses drive economic growth. He argues higher payroll taxes dissuade small businesses from hiring.
