Magnetic Hill Zoo Kicks Off 2016 Season This Weekend

The Magnetic Hill Zoo officially open for the season starting today.

That’s the word from Zoo Coordinator Bernie Gallant who says today marks the beginning of their slow opening.

Gallant says in previous years they would open up for the May long weekend, but found themselves swamped with visitors.

“So what we’ve done now is we open up in April, not everything is up to kinda clean, clean, clean and not all the grass is green and all this but it’s a way of seeing how we deal with coming off the winter months,” says Gallant.

He says not every animal and building will be open to visitors, but there is still much to see and do.

“You’ll start seeing some of the normal animals that we have outside during the winter months, for example, the tigers are gonna be outside, and the lions,” says Gallant. “Once the weather kinda warms up at night, because it still gets cold in the evening, so that’s why we don’t put everything out right away.”

Gallant says people should stay tuned because they have new exhibits and animals coming this year however for the moment they are keeping details under wraps.
