UPDATED: More Testimony At Murder Trial About Washroom Outside Richard Oland’s Office

The second-degree murder trial of Dennis Oland hearing that officers on scene of 52 Canterbury Street used the second floor bathroom outside of Richard Oland’s office for two days which a forensic identification officer admitted on the stand concerned him.

On day 12 of the trial Sergeant Mark Smith of the Saint John police back on the stand testifying that he searched that washroom on July 9 anyway. He says the washroom contained a small sink, a toilet and a garbage can. There was no visible blood on the walls or on the sink. A piece of stained paper towel was found in that washroom and a test done on it indicated it was stained with blood.

On July 12, a blood spatter analyst from the RCMP lab in Halifax, Nova Scotia sprayed the crime scene and second floor washroom with a blood re-agent and reactions developed in both areas.

We’re told that officer will be a witness in this trial.

Sgt Smith first took the stand on October 1.

65 days have been set aside for the trial.
