Common Council getting a recommendation tonight from City Staff to approve, with a lot of conditions, a big residential and commercial development along Ashburn Road and northeast of the One Mile Interchange.
The proposal from Horizon Management includes a 60-acre area of green space northeast of the One Mile Interchange.
City staff are recommending approval over two stages.
Stage one would be “approval in principle” for the land use changes being proposed.
The second stage would require a number of studies to be completed over 5 years. These would include an environmental impact assessment and studies on storm water management, traffic and whether the existing the city services would have to be upgraded.
Any upgrades to municipal infrastructure would have to be paid for by the developer and any cost sharing agreement would have to be approved by Common Council.
