Irving Oil Encouraged By Community Support, Chief Business Development Officer Says

The Chief Business Development Officer for Irving Oil Jeff Matthews says though the appeal of the HQ building in the uptown is disappointing they are very encouraged by the support from the community over the last few days.

He tells us construction was scheduled to start on Monday but the project is now indefinitely on hold, “That’s part of the disappointing piece we were expecting to see a lot of activity on the site today kicking off what we believe will be an exciting two-year period for the project,” says Matthews.

He says two separate meetings were held with the Heritage Board where the project was presented and it was ultimately approved.

Matthews says the height of the proposed HQ is driven by the number of employees that would work there.

He notes that it’s unclear as to the timing of when this appeal will be heard.
