A free program for kids to have lunch with their friends regardless of need getting a nice boost from Uptown Saint John’s Chop Chop event in February.
$1 from the many meals purchased during winter restaurant week go to the Lunch Connection which serves some city schools.
Bonnie Hunt says the serve two days a week at St. John the Baptist-King Edward, three days a week at Centennial School and four days a week at Hazen White-St. Francis.
She says it’s a full school program for St. John the Baptist-King Edward and Hazen White-St. Francis so it’s about 200 students in each program.
Lunch connection needs financial donations and volunteers to come and help prepare the meals.

Executive Director Nancy Tissington says the idea to give back came from Holly Singh of Thandi’s and Peter Stoddard of the Saint John Ale House who are both very community-minded.
