A New Sold Out Event Hears From Senator Nancy Hartling

The sold out Women’s Empowerment Network lunch hearing from Moncton’s Nancy Hartling on what it’s like to become a Canadian senator.

Hartling tells us after 34 years working in the non-profit sector, she was nudged by a few people to apply and she thought “why not?”.

After her application was filed, she got a call telling her to wait in a secure place for another phone call.

Hartling tells us that call came from the Prime Minister and she was suprised. He asked if her name could be put forward to the Governor General to be considered as a independent senator and of course she said yes.

The event heard from several women telling their stories about how the Power Up! program helped them turn their lives around.

Maps depicting the experiences of the various women were displayed around the Delta ballroom.
