New regulations on drunk driving will be in place next month. The aim is to cut down on impaired driving by increasing the sanctions against drunk drivers.
The enhanced measures will include a mandatory alcohol ignition interlock device program, escalating sanctions on short-term licence suspensions, an extension of the review of a driver’s record from seven years to 10 years and short-term licence suspensions will be recorded on that abstract as well.
The enhanced measures have been endorsed by MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving).
