The Yankees lead 3 games to 2. The Yankees will start Luis Severino against Justin Verlander for the Astros.

In the NHL, in his first game of the season, Patrice Bergeron scored a goal and added three assists in Boston’s 6-3 win over Vancouver…….In other play, it was the Islanders over the Rangers 4-3 in a shootout…..Tampa Bay 2 Columbus 0…….Nashville 1 Philadelphia 0…..New Jersey 5 Ottawa 4 in overtime…..Edmonton 2 Chicago 1 in overtime…..St. Louis 4 Colorado 3…..Carolina 2 Calgary 1 and Dallas 5 Arizona 4.

In the NFL, Derek Carr threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree on the final play after the game was extended by two straight penalties and the Oakland Raiders broke a four game losing streak with a 31-30 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the NBA, the Toronto Raptors won their home opener over Chicago 117-100. In other play, it was Oklahoma City 105 New York 84 and the Los Angeles Clippers over the L-A Lakers 108-92.
