Overall opinion is evenly divided on the question whether Rothesay, Quispamsis, Grand Bay-Westfield, and Saint John should amalgamate into one big municipality.
According to a poll by Corporate Research Associates, 42 percent of those people surveyed support amalgamation while 43 percent are opposed.
7 percent are undecided and 8 percent either don’t know or won’t offer an opinion.
There are big regional differences though. 54 percent of Saint Johnners support amalgamation while 60 percent of those people living outside the city are against.
