An inmate who was serving time for weapons offenses at Dorchester Penitentiary has died.
48-year-old Charles Lignos was serving a sentence of three years, two months and one day for possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose since February 29, 2016.
Correctional Service Canada says he died on February 14 of apparent natural causes after an illness.
CSC is going to look into the circumstances, as it does with all cases involving an inmate death, and will contact the police or coroner if required.
