Some smoke damage at a home on Carmarthen Street in the south end after an oven was left on while someone slept last night.
“Upon arrival we were told there was smoke coming from the second floor of a three division structure at [144 Carmarthen Street],” says platoon chief Barry Oickle. “Crews had to force the door open and found a tenant inside sleeping and an oven was on causing smoke within the structure.”
The tenant was checked out by paramedics and the building was ventilated. That call came in around 9pm.
Late yesterday afternoon, around 4pm, crews responded to Brunswick Square where they found heavy smoke at Cora’s along with smoke coming from the ventilation system on top of the roof. Oickle says it turned out there was a cooking problem inside the kitchen and Brunswick Square was evacuated.
