City fire crews called out again this morning to the west side shortly before 1:00 to 587 Lancaster Avenue. Platoon Chief Eric Garland says a large vacant builsding was fully engulfed in flames and eventually collapsed and the fire spread to adjacent buildings. Upwards of 20 people were evacuated and the Red Cross was called to help them out. Two additional buildings sustained minor damage. There were no injuries.
City Police say the cause of yesterday morning’s fire at a two storey building which was destroyed on St. James Street West which killed one man is not believed to be suspicious.
There was a collision on the Harbour Bridge last night between a small car and a half ton truck. The car burst into flames and was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived. The driver of the car got out safely and was taken to hospital for observation.
