Anti-Poverty Group Disappointed By NB Family Plan

The Common Front for Social Justice is not impressed by the Gallant government’s recently unveiled New Brunswick Family Plan.

The plan’s framework calls for proactive measures to help improve the health of families and consultations with various stakeholders are being scheduled.

Common Front provincial coordinator Jean-Claude Basque says the plan contains nothing concrete.

“It’s kind of saying, okay let’s hold back we are going to look again – consult again – and we’re not going to take a decision. It’s almost like it’s a stalling tactic,” he says.

Given that similar reports have already been done, Basque adds this new family plan is not necessary and the money used to create it could be better spent elsewhere.
