Police Credited With Saving Family From House Fire

If not for the work of city police, a family whose home was destroyed by fire on River Avenue over the weekend may have died.

When police officers arrived, they found the house to be fully engulfed in flames, tried to get inside and were greeted at the front door by a man who was disoriented.

The officers helped him find his wife and children in the smoke filled house and then brought them to safety.

Police also attempted to rescue the family dog but the flames were too intense.

Attempts were made to rescussitate the dog but proved to be unsuccessful.
