All of the staff members at the New Brunswick Arts Board are being dismissed as the provincial budget cuts funding by 400 thousand dollars.
The provincial Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture is taking over the functions performed by the Arts Board does. Those who are opposed to this question whether there will be a loss of independence and how much money will really be saved in the long run. The Arts Board was created in the first place to be arm’s length from government.
Funding for the film industry in the province has also been reduced.
