Thursday Morning Sports For February 4th

The Sea Dogs have moved into first place in the Maritimes Division after a 4-1 victory over the Moncton Wildcats. It was their fifth straight win while Moncton has lost 6 in a row.

In the NHL, the Montreal Canadiens losing to Buffalo 4-2…..The Canadiens have been in a prolonged slump winning just 5 of their last 26 games…….Tampa Bay downed Detroit 3-1 and it was Calgary over Carolina 4-1.

Calgary Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman has been suspended 20 games for his hit on linesman Don Henderson in last week’s loss to Nashville. He claims it was unintentional and the NHL Players Association filed an appeal.

In boys high school hockey, it was Simonds over Harbour View 4-2.

In the National Basketball League, the Saint John Mill Rats rallied on the road against the Niagara River Lions to pull out a 99-97 win in the waning seconds. Gabe Freeman gave the Mill Rats the lead with 7 seconds left after an offensive rebound and then Anthony Stover blocked a dunk shot to preserve the win.

In the NBA, it was Boston 102 Detroit 95……Charlotte 106 Cleveland 97…..Atlanta 124 Philadelphia 86….Indiana 114 Brooklyn 100……Golden State 134 Washington 121 with Steph Cyrry scoring 51 points for the Warriors……Oklahoma City 117 Orlando 114…..Miami 93 Dallas 90….San Antonio 110 New Orleans 97….Utah 85 Denver 81….Chicago 107 Sacramento 102 and Minnesota 108 Los Angeles Clippers 102.
