Blueberries Seen As Pillar Of Economic Growth

25 per cent of Canada’s overall production of blueberries happens right here in New Brunswick.

The provincial government wants to see expansion into new markets with value added products. Agriculture Minister Rick Doucet is talking about things like juice, jams and pies with more farmers getting into the business of growing blueberries. He says there are 300 such farm families operating in the province right now.

Doucet says the free trade agreement with Europe will open up opportunities and he sees Asia as holding huge potential.
