David Alward Speaks In Saint John At Port Days

It was like old times.

David Alward giving a speech in Saint John but this time he was speaking in his current role as Canada’a Consul General to New England.

The former Premier addressed the opening breakfast at Port Days and he spoke about the relationship between Canada and the U.S.

He says N.A.F.T.A has brought tremendous benefits to Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.

Since the signing of the agreeement there has been a four-fold increase in trade and in 2015 it reached one trillion dollars.

Because of N.A.F.T.A., Alward says we have an integrated North American supply chain in manufacturing as well an integrated energy network.

He says after 25 years in place N.A.F.T.A. needs updating which he calls a normal good practice for any trade agreement.
