We still don’t know when recreational marijuana will be legalized, but that doesn’t concern the general manager of cannabis at NB Liquor.
Lara Wood spoke as part of a panel on Monday at the World Cannabis Congress in Saint John.
Wood tells us they’ve always planned to be ready for the federal government’s original goal of July 1.
“Right now, we are still in a good place and we’re anxiously awaiting the date,” says Wood, “but there are certain things that we can’t move until we know.”

The Senate voted in favour of legislation to legalize recreational marijuana last week, but it came with over 40 amendments.
It will now be up to the House of Commons to decide whether to approve or reject those changes.
There will be 20 Cannabis NB retail stores throughout New Brunswick and the province has said 11 would be ready to open by July.
Tenders had to be re-issued for the remaining nine and they’re expected to open by September.
