UPDATED: Saint John Man Missing In Calgary Found

The Saint John father of a missing man is feeling ‘a weight lifted off’ his heart after a phone call from Calgary police that his son has been found alive.

“It was just that phone call that you were waiting for and you were hoping for good news but you didn’t want to expect the bad,” says George Naves.

CHSJ News is told that his son, 24-year-old Gregg Naves, was living and working in Calgary when his life began heading downhill with the loss of his job and home and he began using drugs last fall. His family hadn’t heard from him since the end of March and fundraising efforts were underway so that his parents could fly out to look for him.

A Facebook post from Gregg’s mother, Doreen, says that while he’s been found alive he is ‘not in the best condition.’

“It’s the drugs and that’s what caused this whole situation in the first place, why he went missing and stuff like that,” says George.

The fundraiser is still on and we’re told the money will now go towards putting Gregg into rehab if that is what he wants. It’s happening June 23 at Buccaneers Pub on Main Street West and tickets are $25. You can find more information on the Facebook page here.
