The Conservation Council of New Brunswick says 2017 had some big highs and some very bad low points.
Executive Director Lois Corbett says the year began with a devastating ice storm that shows climate change is here now, it left hundreds without power for several days.
Corbett calls the demise of the energy east pipeline project a real win for everyone, she says there needs to be an even further move away from the old fossil fuels to greener and cleaner forms of energy.
There were some terrible stories throughout the year including the plight of the Right Whales and the death of a whale rescue team member.
Corbett was also disgusted when that lobster was caught with a soda pop logo embedded into it, she says that shows we have to stop using our oceans as garbage dumps.
