City Holding Off On Demolition Of Reversing Falls Restaurant

The fate of the old Reversing Falls Restaurant building is up in the air with the city currently in talks with Saint Johner Max Kotlowski who has offered $1-million to buy it.

The tender has been delayed until the conversations are complete, and Mayor Mel Norton tells us they’ve postponed meetings with contractors that were looking to demolish the structure.

He says staff have been, and are going to continue to work with Kotlowki over the next few days to fully understand his vision and see if there’s an opportunity to strike a bargain.

Common Council approved the demolition of the building at 200 Bridge Road back in March of this year and the Mayor says the offer by Kotlowski isn’t an idea that was available to council when that decision was made.
“We have some new information and a new opportunity in front of us and we have an obligation to listen to that,” says Norton.
