City Police To Follow Recomendations In Moncton Shooting Report

A review into policing practices spurred by Justin Bourque’s shooting rampage in Moncton last summer resulted in a list of 64 recommendations for police, ranging from the use of patrol carbines, or short-barrelled rifles, to officers wearing ceramic body armour.

Saint John Police Chief Bill Reid tells CHSJ News the SJPD is prepared to invest the $30,000 – $40,000 it will cost to outfit members with that gear – but the biggest cost will be week-long training for each member.

Reid says a lot of the recommendations were simply procedural for the RCMP and the SJPD is already in compliance with them.
