The lines of communication being opened up between the city and the agencies, boards and commissions it funds.
A motion by Deputy Mayor Shelley Rinehart that would see the A-B-C’s making regular appearances in front of council at least once per year being passed unanimously.
Mayor Mel Norton tells us in the last round of budget discussions the greatest area of weakness city management identified was a lack of control over spending by the A-B-C’s. Norton says while city departments on the whole did very well the A-B-Cs that were at arms-length from the city exercised much less control.
He says from his perspective this is one of the biggest wins they can have in 2015.
