Council Ratifies Filing Of Application To Participate In NEB’s Energy East Hearing

Common Council giving its official stamp of approval to the filing of its application to have intervenor status in the upcoming National Energy Board hearing into the Energy East pipeline project.

Mayor Mel Norton tells us it’s very important as the host community and the end point for this project that they be part of that discussion and express both the concerns for the environmental sustainabilty and the risk factors but also that they add their support to the project in terms of what it does for the economy.

Norton says if Saint John is granted permission to participate and present, and the NEB feels it’s appropriate, he’d appreciate speaking on behalf of the city and its citizens.

The deadline for applications is today. Click here for more information.
