The RCMP do not believe criminality was involved in the death of a young woman on Elsipogtog First Nation over the weekend.
Early Saturday morning, around 2:30, Southeast District RCMP officers were called to a residence on Main Street on Elsipogtog First Nation.
When they arrived, police found the body of a 22-year old woman outside the residence.
A man was taken into custody, questioned, and then later released.
At first, Provincial RCMP spokesperson Corporal Jullie Rogers-Marsh said the circumstances were suspicious, but that changed after analyzing evidence gathered thus far.
While it is no longer considered a criminal matter, the RCMP is helping the Coroner’s Office in their investigation.
