Cycling World Reeling At Hospitalisation of Rising Sussex Cyclist

The cycling world is rallying behind international cyclist Ellen Watters of Sussex.

She suffered what are described as massive head injuries and is at the Regional Hospital in critical condition.

Watters was out biking when she was struck in a collision with a vehicle on Riverview Drive in Sussex.

Her family went on social media December 26th issuing a statement that Ellen has been stabilised and is receiving respiratory support but due to the extent of her injuries, they did not anticipate a recovery.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to assist her family with financial support for travel and expenses.

This season proved to be a breakout year for Watters, according to the Cycling Canada statement. Watters won the pro/am event at the Tour of the Battenkill as well as the Tour of Sommerville. She was invited to take part in the Canadian National Team project in August, winning a Kermesse in Belgium on August 18th.
