In honour of the late Ellen Watters, more than 100 cyclists are expected to participate in a bike tour around the Sussex area tomorrow.
The ride, named Ellen’s Tour, will start and end at the 8th Hussars Sports Centre in Sussex, and there are three routes.
Cyclists can choose either the 20, 60 or 100 kilometre routes – the longest of which reaches the Corn Hill area.
The tour was organized by Watters’ friends, and members of the Sussex community, and they are hoping it will become an annual event.
Watters died last December after being hit by a vehicle while she was riding her bike near Sussex.
In honour of Watters, legislation to improve cyclist safety was passed by the provincial government recently, mandating drivers leave a one metre space when passing cyclists.
The cyclists are asking drivers to be aware, and to take extra special precautions when driving in the Corn Hill, Anagance, and Portage Vale area Saturday.
