Cyclists Pushing For Ellen’s Law To Make Presentation To Moncton City Council

A presentation will be made to Moncton City Council tonight from a group looking for support for Ellen’s Law.

The One Metre for Ellen Law was created after the tragic death of well know cyclist Ellen Watters in Sussex last month.

Cathy Manuel is one of the organizers of the group, “Sheila Cameron will be doing a small presentation, updating City Council on what has been happening and explaining Ellen’s law to them. We’re just looking for their endorsement of the legislation we’re proposing.”

Manuel says several members of their group were in Fredericton last week, and spoke to several Ministers, “The Ministers, many of them who are cyclists themselves, agreed that there is a need for an update to our legislation. They’ve all had personal experiences as cyclists with motorists who have come too close.”

A petition is also being circulated in support of Ellen’s Law…which asks for one metre between motorists and cyclists.
