Dragon Boat Chair Confident They Can Reach Goal

Despite delays and choppy weather conditions, the 10th annual Saint John Dragon Boat Festival a big success over the weekend.

The event raising $232,000 to buy specialized equipment for Surgical Services at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Chair Bob Boyce is confident the goal of $250,000 will still be met.

The top three fundraising teams as of Saturday were Atlantic Towing & Kent Line Blue Bayou, ScotiaMcLeod Dragonflies, and Bayview Credit Union Captain Kelly’s Bayview Buccaneers.

This year’s final race results winners are the Hollis Wealth Marathoners, CBCL Extinguishers and Atlantic Towing & Kent Line Blue Bayou.

The Team Spirit Award went to Captain Kelly’s Bayview Buccaneers from Bayview Credit Union.

St. Joe’s Hospital Foundation Executive Director Laurie Flood says they are always very thankful for the enthusiasm the community shows for this event and they look forward to next year’s Dragon Boat Festival on August 29th, 2015.
