Dramatic Water Rescue Attempt

A dramatic water rescue attempt in the St. John River over the weekend showing the lengths to which first responders will go to save a life.

The fire department deployed crews at three different locations along the harbour.

DMK Marine offered up a large boat to the fire department to try to make the rescue. Contact was lost for a short time but a fire crew was able to keep watch on her from the Chesley Drive area.

The person was taken from the water, given CPR on the way to the Coast Guard wharf, and then transported to the hospital.

Besides the fire department and DMK Marine, City Police and the Coast Guard were also involved in the rescue attempt.
