Time is almost up if you’re interested in running for the municipal election.
Director of Elections New Brunswick Paul Harpelle says they are keeping a close eye on how many people are filing nomination papers, “As you know the close of nominations is fast approaching. Nominations will close Friday at 2pm, and we are keeping track of activity around the province.”
He says Campobello Island is on the radar, as only one person, Raymond Brown, has come forward to run for the position of Councillor at Large.
He says there are still three Ward Councillors and a Mayor’s position that need to be filled, and they will be watching to see if, in the final hours, others on the Island file their papers.
Harpelle also wants to advise anyone considering running for a position on Campobello Island to give yourself lots of time to make the deadline, as the returning office is in St. Andrews.
The deadline to file is 2pm on Friday, April 8th. The municipal election will be held on May 9th.
