Emotions Run High Over Possible Closure Of Lorne School

We won’t let Lorne Middle School close without a fight……….That promise made by those people filling the seats at the community school during the first public meeting on its future.

The District Education Council is proposing the school close and the 50 students be shifted to Princess Elizabeth. The Chair of the District Education Council, Rob Fowler tells CHSJ News when it comes to enrollment they’re losing around 500 kids every year and the province is facing what he calls an enrollment crisis.

One Change President Scott Crawford says losing the school would be a major blow to the Old North End.

The Chair of Parents School Support Committee at Lorne, Ken Craft tells us this is another lack of leadership by the District Education Council.

There is currently a petition going around to stop Lorne Middle from shutting down. The next meeting will be held in January when people can give their feedback.
