In boys varsity basketball, Harvey High downing Samuel de Champlain 90-27 to improve to 2 and 0.

In girls varsity basetball, it was Rothesay-Netherwood over McAdam 42-36. Lauryn Bushey was the high scorer with 16 points.

Poley Mountain has a new safety policy coming in place for skiiers and snowboarders December 12th. As of this ski season, anyone using the hill at the resort will have to wear a helmet.

Free agent Billy Butler has agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal with the Oakland A’s. Butler, who’s 28, hit .271 with nine home runs and 66 RBIs this past season for Kansas City.

The Atlanta Braves will meet with free agent lefthander Jon Lester this week. Lester has also met with the Chicago Cubs.

An arbitrator has ruled in favor of the NFL, saying the league can keep Adrian Peterson on the commissioner’s exempt list, effectively ending any chance the Minnesota Vikings running back will play again this season. Earlier, Peterson was suspended without pay for at least the remainder of this season after pleading no contest to a charge of reckless assault in the beating of his 4 year old son.

The Pittsburgh Steelers wasted little time in getting rid of LeGarrette Blount, releasing the veteran running back less than 24 hours after he left the field before the end of Pittsburgh’s victory Monday against the Titans.
