Extra Snow Wreaks Havoc

You might call it a surprise storm.

Saint John get dumped with up to 25 centimetres not the 10 to 15 cm’s we were expecting.

Driving was a nightmare with awful road conditions in the city and on the regional highways with the Mounties recommending motorists avoid driving.

City police were very busy with many collisions despite consistent warnings to avoid travel.

Several tractor trailers got stuck and one jacknifed in the westbound lanes of highway 7 blocking the highway. The I-95 outside Bangor was closed after a chain reaction collision involving as many as 70 vehicles, sending 17 people to hospital.

It was all over by 4pm with the digout had begun and Environment Canada saying we can look forward to a break from the snow.

According to Environment Canada, Saint John has received more than 350 centimeters of snow since tyhe beginning of November. The average amount is 174 centimeters.
